Theme Verse | Mark 6:31b - ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.’
Facilitator: Karen Henderson, Spiritual Director
The priority Jesus places on solitude, silence and soul care is highlighted throughout the Gospels. It’s the practice Jesus used to begin his ministry and make important decisions. It’s how Jesus dealt with troubling emotions and how he dealt with the constant demands of ministry. It’s how Jesus cared for his soul and taught his disciples to care for theirs. It’s how Jesus prepared for important ministry events including his death on the cross. Jesus’ time away with God is how he went deeper and Jesus invites us to join Him in this practice.
Do you need time away from all the busyness of life? Do you need time away from the demands of ministry? Are you in need of some time, just you and the Lord? Then you are invited to join us for “Come Away With Me”

"Breathe" - Fall Retreat 2018
Jesus says: Catch your breath
Get some rest; Take care of yourself. Jesus knows you cannot care for others if you do not care for YOU. Our Fall Retreat is designed to do just that. We are calling it: Breathe.
Ready to reserve your spot?
Registration Closes September 5th
A place to breathe
and get away from it all. Doesn’t that sound refreshing and maybe downright necessary? Jeannie Cheuvront, a Spiritual Director trained at the C. John Weborg Center for Spiritual Direction at North Park Seminary, will lead this retreat.
is a licensed bi-vocational pastor who met Jesus personally in college and for a number of years served Him wearing many hats in youth ministry, retreat ministry, youth conferences, church planting and crisis pregnancy ministry. She says, “I spent a lot of time “doing ministry” but eventually discovered that I was worn out and dry and thirsty and needing to reconnect with the God I had loved and served. I needed to learn how to stop doing and learn how to be in God’s presence, hear His voice and to meet Him intimately once again. I found Spiritual Direction and the gift of contemplative practices to be the gift that restored my soul.”
Special Half-Day Silent Retreat
For those who are able, a silent half day retreat will be offered on Tuesday, October 16th beginning at noon. There is a $10 fee. After lunch and a time of introduction to the practice of silence, participants will engage in a ½ day self-directed time of solitude and silence. The remainder of the retreat will be a time of fellowship with other pastors and their families and times of instruction both from Jeannie and experientially engaging in contemplative spiritual practices that will restore and feed your soul. Come join us and meet with God through silence, art, nature and through fun!

The SEC Women Ministries Board has decided to cancel
the SEC Women Ministries retreat for this year. We do so with heavy hearts but recognizing the clean-up from the aftermath of hurricane Irma is just too much for many of our sisters who have registered for the retreat. We have heard from several women who have evacuated because of the storm and know that even though their hearts would be willing to push and find a way to come we simply don't think it is wise for us to add to an already difficult season.
With most of our registrations this year being from women who live throughout Florida we simply don't know how badly many of them have been affected. Many women have also used vacation time to evacuate and taking another day at this time for retreat would be problematic. We also know several women who live outside of state of Florida who were planning on driving to the retreat. We don't know if gas stations will be refueled by then or all of the roads cleared by then. So for all of these reasons and mostly because of our concern for the heavy lifting that will need to happen as neighbor helps neighbor, we are cancelling the retreat this year.
The board would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of our sisters in the Southeast Conference. We appreciate each of you so much! Be safe and take care of yourself in these days ahead. We are all praying for God's protection and provision as you do all of the necessary work to recover.
In anticipation of miracles and with much prayer,
on behalf of the SEC Women Ministries Board
The SEC Women Ministries Board is so excited about gathering together this year in Florida! This year, there is a ‘Two for One’ incentive. Bring a woman who has never been to an SEC Women Ministries Retreat or a women who has not been to a SEC Women Ministries Retreat in the last three years, and you both receive half off your registration fee, when you pay by the Saturday, August 6th deadline date.
To make this truly a conference experience, we ask each church to become one of our retreat teams. We look forward to experiencing the beautiful gifts that will be offered by the women in our conference.
We have created a retreat flyer, to be posted on your church’s bulletin board; a registration form, (please make copies and submit one registration form per person); a supply list for our retreat project this year and an opportunity to give towards or receive a partial scholarship, if you do not meet the two-for-one incentive.
The registration cost is $120/person. The lodging is $103.50/night with up to four (4) women per room. The registration deadline is Saturday, August 6, 2016.
Registration forms, along with payment, should be mailed to:
