Nominate Your Church

The Rev. Dr. Kurt Miericke Compassion, Mercy, Justice (CMJ) Award

You don't want to miss the awarding of the 2019 Rev. Dr. Kurt Miericke CMJ Award at our 2019 Annual Meeting Celebration Dinner. This award will be presented to a church that has an active and ongoing ministry committed to compassion, mercy and justice. The ministry needs to address the systemic, individual or societal causes of human suffering, disenfranchisement or marginalization and highlight the ministry’s focus on awareness, advocacy, interruption or restoration.

To nominate a church submit a nomination letter, not longer than one page, addressing how the ministry or the church is committed to addressing distress, trauma and the systemic targeting of people and highlight the ways the nominated ministry brings awareness, healing, hope and restoration to their participants. You must also submit a video not longer than two minutes that explains what the ministry does, how it helps and the promise it brings. Papers longer than one page and videos longer than two minutes will be eliminated from qualifying for the award. Submit your nominations to office@southeastconf.org by April 1st, 2019.


The Rev. Dr. Robert Owens Pioneer Grant

The Rev. Dr. Robert L. Owens Pioneer Spirit Grant will also be awarded during our celebration dinner.  This grant will be awarded to a SEC minister who is pioneering in church planting or a racial reconciliation ministry. This grant award will be paid directly to the minister or to an organization designated by the minister being honored. 

To be eligible for the award the minister must hold a Covenant credential, be currently serving in the SEC and be in good standing. The minister may be serving in a variety of positions and/or organizations including local churches, non-profit organizations, community development, or para-church organizations. The candidate can be involved in church planting or a local church ministry involving racial reconciliation. 

To nominate a credentialed minister in good standing submit a nomination letter, not longer than one page, addressing how the minister is doing pioneering work as a church planter or in the ministry of racial reconciliation  You must also submit a video not longer than two minutes that explains how the minister's work is pioneering. Papers longer than one page and videos longer than two minutes will be eliminated from qualifying for the grant. Submit your nominations to office@southeastconf.org by April 1st, 2019.
